Essay-Trainer is an AI-powered essay coach that helps you improve your essay writing through structured, step-by-step guidance. Unlike tools that just correct grammar, Essay-Trainer teaches you how to become a better essay writer by explaining why changes are needed and how to improve.
You choose your essay type (argumentative, expository, descriptive, etc.), write your initial draft by section, then get AI feedback in one click when you move to revision draft. You improve your work and can move on to final draft. The system adapts to your level and gives you personalized guidance.
We support 10 different essay types: argumentative, expository, descriptive, narrative, compare & contrast, cause & effect, definition, process, analytical, and reflective/personal essays. Each essay type has its own structured template and guidance.
We're currently in free beta to learn how you use Essay-Trainer! During beta, you get 10 full-essay feedback sessions (lifetime). Most students use 1–2 sessions per essay. Your usage helps us refine the experience and build better features.
Each time you click "Get feedback" on your essay, it counts as one full-essay feedback session. This includes feedback on all sections of your essay. You can revise and request feedback again, which counts as another session. Most students use 1–2 sessions per essay.

Your essay is broken into sections (introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion, etc.). You complete an initial draft, then get AI feedback in one go when you move to revision draft. You improve your work and can proceed to final draft. This structured flow helps you learn better.
The Analytics Dashboard shows your writing level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, scholarly), scores on clarity, organization, structure, evidence quality, reasoning, vocabulary, grammar, and argument strength, plus your strengths, areas to improve, and progress over time.
Yes. Optional AI essay title suggestions and refinement are available when you need them. You can get suggestions or refine a title you've drafted.
Our system analyzes your essay writing and infers your level based on metrics like sentence length, vocabulary, structure, and reasoning. Examples and feedback are then tailored to your level to ensure they're helpful and not overwhelming.
Export functionality is coming soon! For now, you can copy your essays from the editor. Pro plans will include export features.
Absolutely. We use industry-standard encryption and your essays stay private by default. Your essay text is never shared with third parties except the AI service providers who process it solely to deliver your feedback (as described in our Privacy Policy). If you use the optional Writing Session Record share feature, only writing process metadata (timestamps, word counts, revision counts, and A.I. coaching usage — not essay text) is accessible via the link you generate. You remain in full control of any sharing.
Your essays are private by default — only you can access them when logged in. We protect all accounts with secure authentication and row-level database security. If you choose to generate a Writing Session Record share link from your Writing History page, the recipient of that link can view a structured summary of writing activity (timestamps, word counts, revision counts, and A.I. coaching usage) — but never your essay text. You control whether any link is generated, and you can revoke it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
A Writing Process Record is an optional shareable summary of your writing process — showing editing timestamps, word-count progress, revision activity, and A.I. coaching usage. Your essay text is not included by default. You generate the link yourself from your Writing History page; nothing is shared unless you choose to share it. Optionally, when generating a link, you may choose to include the student's initial draft text (the writing before any A.I. coaching). This is off by default and must be explicitly opted into each time a link is created. Links expire after 30 days and can be revoked at any time from your account. Essay-Trainer does not track who views a shared link.
Your essay writing is used solely to provide you with feedback and improve your experience. We may use anonymized, aggregated data to improve our AI models, but your actual content is never shared.
